Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst, Homes collaborates with Project Managers and other key operational team members to understand the business, analyze spend, cost efficiencies, and cash flows. You drive innovation by building and future proofing models and tools, analyzing and generating new financial and operational reports, and automating new and established processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Financial analysis of projects and new acquisitions, including budget-vs-actual reporting, project cash flow forecasts, and tracking turnovers to customers
  • Consolidate financial data for the Housing division and General Contractor (GC) construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide insightful operational commentary to stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Create and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives and project evaluations.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of project data within various information systems and databases.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including detailed backup documentation to substantiate findings.
  • Identify significant variances and trends, providing actionable insights to enhance financial performance.
  • Streamline, futureproof, and automate existing and new processes and tools.
  • Provide project accounting support to Project Managers and Construction Teams including various operational reports, cash flows, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare various ad hoc analysis as required by management.
  • Support the preparation of the Quarterly Divisional Update and other Board presentation material for the Housing Division.
  • Support in the generation of the annual budget, quarterly financial forecast, and monthly cash flows.
  • Maintain Lot Payables and Acquisition tracking for the Edmonton and Ottawa regions.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into financial discrepancies, providing detailed analyses and recommendations for improvement.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Associate's degree in Accounting
  • Associate's degree in Finance
  • Master's degree in Business Administration
